All of my sewing is pretty simple. I work best with projects that don’t involve patterns-since I tend to lose interest during the prewashing the fabric stage and cutting the pattern pieces. Although I have many proper sewing patterns in my collection I tend prefer the simplicity of eyeballing fabric to make a great idea come together. Unfortunately, many projects get tossed out because of my sewing free spirit.
Even so, sewing is a wonderful to way to express your style or copy a favorite style and tweek it to your particular body shape. I am often inspired by folk festivals in the park downtown or the “One of a Kind” craft show in Toronto by the imagination of others to sew outside the normal mall type clothing. Like a mosaic you can piece together all sorts of things, recycle old t-shirts to come up with something altogether new. I find this sort of thing a bit thrilling.
Let’s see if we can come up with some bright ideas of our own here!
