How to Make a Paper Tulip Flower with Your Hand-Easy Spring Craft!

Paper flower bouquet. Easy kids craft for spring! mybrightideasblog.com
Here is an easy spring craft! TULIP FLOWER made with your child’s hand print, paper, pipe cleaners. It’s so simple!

In a few days our school has a Spring Party where we like to have several stations for the youngsters to work on. Each year we need a craft table with a an easy project. To make it easy for the children to do and take with the project home immediately we avoid things that have white craft glue or paint. I’m happy to say I have found an idea that will be Spring themed, with just a few supplies and no drying time. Whoohoo!

This is what you will need:

  • Colored paper (red, yellow, pink, orange, purple)
  • Green and yellow (or orange) pipe cleaners
  • Pencil, tape, scissors

Trace the child’s hand on colored construction paper. Cut the hand shape out.

Use a round pencil to form a curl each finger outwards. Wrap the bottom of the hand around itself so you have a tiny hole at the bottom. Add a piece of clear tape to hold it in place.

Pipe cleaners usually come 12 inches long (30 cms), so cut the pipe cleaners in half.

Bend the end of the 6 inch (15 cms) green pipe cleaner so you have a hook shape. Bend your orange or yellow 6 inch pipe cleaner in half to make a V shape. Twist the orange pieces together, then bend in half and twist again. Then twist 4 or 5 more times so the orange piece is tight. Next we need to twist the green hook end to secure it.

Slide the pipe cleaner stem in through the gap at the bottom of the flower so the green part is below the flower and the orange part is sticking up through the centre of the flower.

Add a ribbon if you make a few for a bouquet of flowers. That is all there is to it.

Easy Kids Crafts! Spring Paper Flower Bouquet

Easy to Make “Kitty” Cat Ear Hairband with Flowers

Kitty Cat Ear Headband -Easy to make mybrightideasblog.com

My kids tell me that cat ear hairbands are what everyone is wearing to school. So make one that is springy with flowers and pipe-cleaners. You will need:

Artificial plants with small flowers, a plain hairband, 2 matching pipe-cleaners, hot glue gun and scissors.

Use one pipe-cleaner to make each cat ear, wrap the wire tightly then use plyers to pinch it tight so it doesn’t poke you in the head.

Pop the flowers off the stems and trim off the little green nub. This will make the flower sit flat when you glue it on but it will also make the flower fall apart a bit so put a dot of glue on the flower and attach the green plastic end back on. Then glue the flower into place.

Remember to pull all the glue strings off from the hot glue gun. I always miss some! This would make a fun project for a girls playdate or visit to grandma’s. Have fun!

Beaded SnowFlake Suncatcher-Easy Craft for Kids!

Beautiful Winter Kids Craft-Beaded Sun Catchers-snowflakes

We love Beads and Pipe-cleaners are a craft cupboard essential. So on this snowy winter’s day the kids and I made snow flakes to hang in our windows-and we used just those 2 ingredients. Beads and Pipe-Cleaners! Sparkly beads look so lovely in the window-so this will make a gorgeous sun-catcher.

Cut a 3 pipe-cleaners in half. I think the sparkly style would have looked gorgeous but today we only found turquoise and white which both give a nice cool look.

Take the 3 half length pipe-cleaners and twist in the middle so they hold the shape of a snowflake.

String on plastic beads. As long as the bead hole is big enough to slide a pipe-cleaner through it will work. But if your crafter is younger you may want to use pony beads-the type of plastic bead with big holes.

We chose white, clear, silver, turquoise and blue. As you get close to the end bend the pipe-cleaner so that the beads don’t slide off.

Find a scrap of narrow ribbon to tie to an end and hang from the window. Stand back and admire!
